Nomads are people who travel from place to place and have no permanent home. But have you ever heard of student nomads? Student nomads, such as us, are people who decided to relocate in order to gain a different education than the one provided in our home countries. We want to receive the best education possible, to learn about other cultures, and to experience new adventures. We want the exact same things other students do: to learn, to discover, and to live.
We, the student nomads currently studying at Eastern Michigan University, are a varied group of people who come from different countries, speak different languages, and have different knowledge. Yet here we are, all prepared to learn, to speak English, and to tell you our stories. Despite the fact that each of us has a different background, we are able to collaborate, to study together, and to became friends. Our goal is to get to know each other better in order to prevent cultural misunderstanding and to spread tolerance and mutual respect for each culture.
The purpose of this website is to share our stories with you, our readers, neighbors, teachers, or even with a complete strangers so that we can prevent xenophobia and other cultural prejudices. We want to show you that we are here to study, to learn about the United States and its language, and to demonstrate that while having different backgrounds, we all can live, study, and work in harmony. Our class is an example that diversity is an advantage not a disadvantage in today´s society.
