Rise of the Internet in China
As time goes by, high technology develops fast. One example is the Internet. In China before 1949, there was no Internet in this country. If people wanted to transmit information, they used horses to carry paper or oral messages to each other. However, some people were so poor that they did not have enough money to buy a horse. They did not have the chance to get information from the outside world and also became ignorant people who knew less about the world. Nowadays, people are very happy in this century because technology is highly developed in the world. People can do what they want to do. The Internet has changed people’s lives in three ways: improved contact among people, made business more convent and made it easier to obtain information.
First of all, the Internet has changed people’s lives by affecting people’s contact with others. Before 1949 in China, people could only contact their friends by using two ways. One way was to write a letter and post it through the postal delivery system. It would take more than a month because the post-horses would run to the destination. Another way for people to transmit information was to use carrier pigeons. It was convenient for people who cannot afford the post-horses fee. However, there are still some poor people who cannot afford both of the ways of delivery. They had to give up contact with others. However, in the 21st century people can use the Internet to contact their friends, wherever they are, people can easily contact others. People can send messages or Face Time. They can contact each other in just one second. People can do as they wish because of Internet.
In addition to improving contact, the Internet has increased convenience in business. There is a true story in ancient China from the Tang dynasty in 747. A beautiful woman whose name was Yang Yuhuan was an emperor’s wife. One day, she wanted to eat fresh leechee. People who live in the north hardly eat leechee because it is a product from the south of China. The emperor wanted to see Yang Yuhuan smile, so he told his guards to ride a swift horse to go to the south of China to leechee in two days as soon as possible. People from a common family did not have chances to eat litchi at that time. Presently, people can use Internet to buy something at the same time the postman can deliver it. It is a very convenient way to shop.
Last but not least, people can get information from the Internet. Nowadays, people can use Internet tools like Google or Wikipedia to get the information, which they want. For example, Wikipedia has lots of entries built by many Internet users to help others find and understand the information. Wikipedia is open for everyone who uses the Internet in order to spread information all over the world. It is really helpful for people to use the Internet to learn about the world though the news, E-dictionary, and even a video website. The Internet has changed the way of getting information, which is really important and indispensable in the world today.
In conclusion, the Internet has changed China and the world. It is a successful technology, which has totally changed life. Although it has both advantages and disadvantages, it can be said that the world cannot live without the Internet. The invention of the Internet changes the present, the contrived developing net of the Internet will create a new world in the future.
